a keeper:
and if down awful chasms i needs must leap, let me not murmur at my lot, but sweep on bravely to the end without one fear, knowing that He who planned my ways stands near. Love sent me forth, to Love i go again, for Love is all, and over all.

i'm glad to be friends with the God who makes the earth's plans.

hi team,
(does anyone still read anymore?)

i'm in tokyo! narita airport 12 hours away from arriving back in sydney. when i get back it's (almost literally) straight to work, jaffa, uni, commerce revue, jess's birthday, friendships. i spent a good chunk of my morning (chronologically) praying about what i have to do in my first sydney week back and because God is good, i feel more relaxed about it.
on friday 31st i get to see 'poor boy' at the sydney theatre company! i am too blessed for words.

not least because i'm just coming to the end of an 11 day trip to moscow, st petersburg and tokyo. an obscure destination? yes. weren't you supposed to go on study camp? yes. but instead my dad was super keen to go to the country which had been china's 'brother country' while he was growing up. and kind of annoyed at my initial resistance to be taken along.

moscow was fun. incredibly attractive, scantily-dressed girls and far less attractive guys. some really lovely experiences of strangers helping us with luggage, directions and public transport. st petersburg was more european (apparently. i've never been anywhere else in europe) and beautiful. st petersburg to moscow's kind of like melbourne to sydney? it's a clumsy but partly accurate comparison. we found a balance between kind, helpful people and rude apparently hateful people in russia. as a family we've adopted the 'russian' as a measuring unit of anger. e.g. "she's three russians angry"

japan is the best. wynne described it well in saying that she loves russia for the time we had there, but that she loves japan for the country in and of itself. getting off the plane here was such happy relief! everything/one's clean, polite and organised. there's a chorus of greetings and farewells anytime you're entering/leaving/moving in a store and bows all over the shop. also, everything's a little futuristic? technology just works better here. their lifts/subways/toilets just seem to be that much more advanced and thoughtfully-made.

anyway the other australian-accented people in this (free!) internet place have left, which makes me think i should figure out where i need to be next. maybe someone still reads and cares? maybe one day i'll be glad to have this vague and brief record. i don't want to miss my flight cause of a livejournal entry.

bye!
lynne
